EVERY CHILD NEEDS A CHAMPION
30 July 2019
Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Her response: "Kids don't learn from people they don’t like.’” A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level. Dreamer wows the Otways
18 June 2019
Recently, Dream Puppets' show Dreamer in the Deep toured the Otways in Victoria. It played to some 600 kids at the performing arts centre in Colac, then played to the small audiences that make up the primary sections of Lavers Hill K -12 College and Apollo Bay P-12 College.
The short tour was organised through Shows For Schools, by Colac Otway Shire's Sustainability Officer, Steve Turnock. This is what he said about it;
"Dreamer in the Deep" came to Colac Otway Shire as part of World Environment Day 2019. Richard’s wonderful lighting, props and bespoke soundtrack provided a magical backdrop, enabling his incredible skill as a puppeteer to take the audience on a magical journey beneath the sea. Evocative and beautifully enacted, Dreamer’s voyage into the unknown captured the imaginations of young and old alike, leaving Shire audiences spell-bound.
We reckon he was pretty pleased with the show!

Dreamer in the Deep is one of a suite of 4 puppet shows starring the character of Dreamer. Sadly, they're only available to Victorian schools. The shows are so exquisitely realised that not only are they booked by teachers for primary and kinder students, but also occasionally by VCE Theatre Studies teachers. World Space Week is coming up from 4 -10 October, Dreamer in Space would be a great springboard to celebrate that.

SFS is very proud to present the work of this internationally recognised puppet company.
