It was one of the best performances for students that she has seen... how wonderful it was that the team/actors knew so much and could offer so much to the students... really felt it was a helpful learning experience for the students.

How can one man fall so far?

An exciting production of one of Shakespeare most complex works, constructed exclusively for secondary school students. We bring a bold new look at this celebrated and much studied play. The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company is passionate in presenting performances that act as pathways for student understanding and enjoyment of Shakespeare.

The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company’s performances are relatable and engaging springboards for students to better grasp the language, characters, humour and themes of each work so that they’re playfully encouraged to explore and find joy in reading and the English language. Through our dynamic 60-minute versions of Shakespeare’s works, we de-mystify elements of each play or sonnet to help create a greater connection to his works and how they still resonate today.

PRESENT FEARS
ARE LESS THAN HORRIBLE IMAGININGS
How can one man fall so far? One of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, Macbeth explores themes of ambition, guilt and fate and free will, among others.

In 'Shakespeare Without Tears: Macbeth’ our passionate, experienced and knowledgeable professional actors focus on the intense and often misunderstood relationship between Macbeth, the man that would be king, and Lady Macbeth, the woman who would do anything to place him on the throne. In a sharp 60-minutes, we propel students into the world of Shakespeare and how his themes, stories and narratives can align with their own lives and experiences today. With this connection from stage to page, teachers can experience greater engagement and more positive outcomes in the classroom as students learn to fall in love with Shakespeare and the English language.

Our actors guide students through the murky world of Shakespeare's Macbeth, highlighting the key themes and scenes that make this such a compelling work.

In each performance we will:

-Highlight the themes and motifs that run throughout the pay such as fate, power, decay and light

-Examine the intense and often misunderstood relationship between Macbeth, the man that would be king, and Lady Macbeth, the woman who would do anything to place him on the throne

-Use modern adaptations of scenes and real time translations of more complex scenes, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in Shakespeares 'scottish play'

-Respectful and appropriate audience participation

-Link each scene with clear and concise explanations

Very effective show and plots were well covered in both R&J and Mac. It helped our students to understand and enjoy the play which was a great help in their further study of the plays.
