Dark Emu

Bangarra Dance Theatre

For a compelling fix of contemporary dance and uniquely Australian stories, look no further than Bangarra Dance Theatre’s 2018 season, Dark Emu.

In stellar form after their sold-out 2017 production of Bennelong – widely acclaimed by critics and audiences alike – their latest outing will satisfy your spirit and connect you with Country.

Inspired by Bruce Pascoe’s award-winning book, Dark Emu features a myriad of dance stories directed by Stephen Page. Each explores the vital life force of flora and fauna, redefining the narrative around the post-colonial myth of the ‘hunter-gatherer’. Long-time Bangarra collaborators Steve Francis (music), Jacob Nash (sets) and Jennifer Irwin (costumes) bring their impeccable aesthetic to the production.

Known for their world-class dancing, ravishingly beautiful set and costume design, and soul-stirring soundscapes, Bangarra Dance Theatre is a company at the peak of its powers. Don’t miss your chance to experience it in 2018.
