Moving through the three phases of filmmaking – pre-production, production and post-production - learn useful filming and editing techniques designed to take your students’ films to the next level..

This workshop introduces students to the basic concepts of how to set up a documentary shoot or a live action film. Students will be guided through the three phases of filmmaking (preproduction, production and postproduction), and learn useful filming and editing techniques that will take their films to the next level.

This is a BYOD (bring your own device) workshop and students will quickly learn and practice fun hands-on exercises in small groups. Please note skills learned in this course are not limited to a particular piece of video editing software or type of camera.

Live Action Film-Making Workshop - Suitable for school programs involving script-writing and fictional story-telling

  • Learn about selective shooting for better editing options
  • Learn about recording better audio
  • Basic video editing

Documentary Film-Making Workshop - Suitable for school programs involving non-fiction story-telling, presenting information, and interview techniques
  • Learn how to set up and film a scene from a variety of angles
  • Understand and different camera angles and their uses
  • Learn about cutaways and establishing shots
  • Learn about selective shooting for better editing options
  • Learn about recording better audio
  • Basic video editing

  • Extended story-writing idea generation exercises

After the workshop
Student work will be made available for download after the workshop, emailed to the teacher making the booking
