2020 Season One - Rafael Bonachela and William Forsythe (Sydney Primary)

Sydney Dance Company

2020 2020 2020 2020 2020

“Sydney Dance Company offered a great opportunity to my students who have not seen contemporary dance live or have been to a theatre before. They loved that the dancers were from diverse backgrounds. My students cannot wait to attend again next year"
Teacher - Noble Park Secondary College

“The talk on the bus was extremely positive. They loved seeing the dancers on stage warming up and recognising movements they do in class. Students enjoyed hearing from the choreographers and their choreographic process.”
Teacher - Para Hills High School

Bonachela / Forsythe collects two works from across the spectrum of physicality.

Impermanence sees Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela join forces with Bryce Dessner of iconic American rock band The National who will compose a world premiere score, to be performed live on stage by the Australian String Quartet. It’s a rare triple threat that explores the ephemeral nature of all things.

William Forsythe’s N.N.N.N. is an Australian premiere from the godfather of contemporary dance: witty, riveting and “astonishingly intense” (The New York Times).

“The whole performance was amazing. I especially loved the combination of duos and the abstract movement. I aspire to create movement like that.”

“I learned that it doesn’t matter about the age you started dancing or the hometown you were raised – training hard and believing in yourself can help you achieve your dream and dance can take you anywhere.”
Student

“This is the first time I have seen Sydney Dance Company performance and felt that afterwards, I truly understood where dance can go and what it can express.”
Student

“After watching Sydney Dance Company perform, I realised that not every dance work needs to be a series of kicks, turns and leaps; that the movements can be unique and intricate.”
