Suitcase Stories (for years 2-7) is a very funny show celebrating the cultural diversity of Australia.
Eight different people from eight different countries each have a tale to tell: there's Eliza Delaney from Ireland, a pioneer of early settlement, Afifa the footballing Lebanese legend, Anna Petrovna, the batty Russian ballerina, Zhou the Chinese girl with a yen for disco dancing, Danke the Dutch girl, Beth Barry, a ten pound Pom, and Bardi, a blackfella with a yarn about dream-time.Then there's Vittoria, the Italian nurse with a great heaving bosom full of ice cream, tears and motherly love.
The humor and extensive teachers' notes enable us to discover the legacy of those who have gone before and to savor the flavors of those newly arrived.
Areas: Australian history, history of Australia, Harmony Week, Immigration, Multicultural Studies
