Welcome to Music

Welcome to Music Welcome to Music Welcome to Music Welcome to Music Welcome to Music Welcome to Music

What a great day. Susie and Phil had the whole school, all 175 children, singing, dancing and playing all day!
Greg Roberts, Music Specialist, St Mary Margarets School, VIC

It was an absolute joy and inspiration to see two people who love their work. Phil and Susie were inspirational to the children from across all year levels. The children were fully immersed in the activities and in no time they were playing and creating.

Some recommendations for AIS programs
• Themes - a theme can often help focus the event and can be developed through discussions, creative writing and particularly art work to decorate the concert space.
• Concerts - we always invite the students to do one to two massed items
Susie and Phil can perform some of their songs involving the audience in song and dance. Phil can also MC the performance if required
• Longer stints such as one day per week over a term
These programs can culminate in the annual concert or musical for the school which combines all the areas of the arts. Costumes can be made, props and sets can be designed and all students are involved in music, dance and drama.
This program can fulfil the arts component of the school curriculum.
• Prior preparation to a concert or longer stint
This is recommended – such as students learning the words to some of the songs and preparing instrumental accompaniments, simple costumes and sets for the concert. Liaision takes place between the co-ordinating teacher and the artists – a varied program of songs, dances and instrumental activities is planned prior to our visit. This program together with the music and recordings are accessed via dropbox prior to the event.

What an experience! Wish that we could have had another couple of weeks to see how far our students could have gone! Susie and Phil's visit to our school was just fantastic with the students still singing and playing some of their favourite songs.
