Mirror Mirror Mirror

Students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed your performance, one of the best that we have had. The kids were engaged the whole time, there was plenty of involvement and it sent a clear message the kids could understand. Perfect to start the year.
Bernadette Kelly, Berwick Lodge Primary School

The feedback from the teachers after today’s performance has been amazing – SUCH A WINNER, THANK YOU!
Helen Moore, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School

“The Magic Mirror is announcing this year's Fairest Of Them Award award, and Fairytale Land is in a frenzy! The characters will do ANYTHING to win the prize. But who will win? Features the stories 'The Ugly Duckling' and 'Red Riding Hood'”

In just 45 minutes, we meet a whole range of popular Fairytale characters, learn about their stories, perform two popular fairytales - 'The Ugly Duckling' and 'Little Red Riding Hood' AND announce the Fairest Of Them All, presented by The Magic Mirror. With music, puppets, laughs and parts for selected students to play, this show has it all! Carp's Fairytale shows are a hit around Melbourne schools every year, and we always have something new to offer each year. Let your students laugh as they learn with Carp Productions!

A unique take on traditional fairytale performance, including up-to-date music and references to popular culture, “Mirror Mirror!” brings many much-loved characters to life and inspires students to love literature! It also explores the differences and similarities between fairytales, participation in performance, characterisation and role-playing, and the transition from books to performance. “Mirror Mirror!” encourages students to explore:
  • Storytelling and narrative
  • The differences and similarities between fairytales
  • Participation in performance
  • Characterisation and role-playing
  • The transition from books to performance

The performance encourages participation in drama and promotes reading. With the help of simple props and costumes, your students become the stars of the shows! All our shows contain positive messages about friendship, sharing, self-belief and tolerance. Various acting techniques are employed - music, poetry, puppetry, mime, song and narration - to encourage the students.

The show was brilliant! The perfect introduction for the children. The storyline and humour were perfectly suited for preps; there wasn’t a moment they weren’t either smiling or laughing. The children incorporated into the show got a real buzz!
Christie Holman, Overport Primary School

Thank you so much for the wonderful performance yesterday for the Preps and the Year 1 students. Feedback from both the Prep and Year 1 teachers was that the performance was entertaining, interesting, interactive and just downright fun.
Tanja Jensen, Wheelers Hill Primary School

The Preps were enthralled for 45 minutes as we explored the idea that everyone is good at SOMETHING! We learnt we should all be proud of the way we look, and if we make mistakes we should never give up. Entertainment of the highest calibre!
Michael Rennie, St Kilda Primary School
