Green Room Awards Acknowledge Garry Ginivan

14 April 2020

Garry Ginivan, producer and creator of many superb music theatre productions for children and families, including Possum Magic and Wombat Stew, died suddenly in early February. Over a million Australians have seen his work, which toured to every state and territory.

Plans were afoot for an industry celebration of his life work at Her Majesty's in Melbourne in May, which will be rescheduled, but meanwhile it was great to see the Green Room Awards recognising his lifetime contribution to music theatre and, we would add, his contribution to creating and nurturing family audiences for theatre, Australia wide.

Watch the award here. Scroll down to the last video clip on the home page.

Harmony Day

20 March 2020

With the current state of the world, harmony almost seems a dream. Harmony with each other, harmony with the world.

Just with the Australian context, our thoughts go out to teachers battling with school communities in doubt and to all the wonderful presenters whose events have been cancelled. This day/week was booked out ages ago for most incursion presenters. We don't know of any whose shows went ahead this week. No work, no income for most of us in the arts industry.

Teachers, please rebook your events for later in the year to give our incredible arts workers some hope.
