The performance was an excellent introduction to the play. It has provided a substantial and concrete entry into the text. It brought to life the characters, their personalities and characterisation.

A version by Don Taylor

The Women of Troy by Euripides is a tragedy played out in the aftermath of the Trojan war. As dawn breaks on the ruins of Troy, Hecuba, the city’s queen and the Trojan women are confronted by the cruelty of their fates. The women take centre stage, and express their genuine despair as a result of the Trojan War. The Women of Troy is a series of lamentations that question the morality of men who seek revenge under the guise of justice. The play exposes the universal brutality of war and the tragic truth, that while war is devastating, particularly for the women and children of the vanquished, everyone suffers – victims and victors alike.

The Women of Troy, the complete production, filmed live at the Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre, is available for streaming online.

The performance was amazing and the teachers loved seeing it like this... The feedback we got from students was that they enjoyed the performance and it helped them to understand the text more to see it played out rather than read.

Our staff were overwhelmingly positive about the production and the delivery of it. As much as they enjoyed the live production, they felt [the online production] was more accessible for them and the students.
Teacher, Catherine McAuley College

Our students' responses and teachers' responses have been very positive. The production value was high and performances of your actors were excellent. The Q&A was highly valued.
