Congrats to the Conversation

Sep 22, 2015

We're very pleased the Victorian Government has stepped in to fund The Conversation. It has promised $1million a year for 3 years, making up the shortfall after the withdrawal of Federal Funding earlier this year.

The Conversation is such a brilliant resource. Andrew Jaspan, ex editor of The Age, had the idea a few years ago and has made it work superbly. Based in Melbourne, The Conversation  has launched a UK, US and African editions. Today The Conversation France has launched and there are more to come.

The model involves partnering with Universities in each country. It's so refreshing to read informed, unbiased comment from academics on the issues of the day. And it's a win for them being published immediately.

In fact, while Andrew was developing the model for TC, we were developing Shows For Schools. Luckily, that also was a good idea, but not quite as international as TC.
