#Henry IV Part 1 - A Rehearsed Reading Live Online - VIRTUAL

The Australian Shakespeare Company

#Henry

“I am so thankful for professional theatre educators and actors such as yourself who are willing to guide and mentor our students to enable them to develop and grow beyond what we can give them in the classroom.”
KATE KINSELLA, DRAMA CO-ORDINATOR, LUTHER COLLEGE

Henry IV Part I
This 2.5 hour session is a full online rehearsed reading of a slightly edited version of the play enabling students to hear professional actors give weight and meaning to the text - lifting it beyond the page.

Time is given for discussion breaks throughout the session focusing (for NSW based schools) on the HSC Module Critical Study of Literature, enabling students to develop detailed analysis, critical knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the play.

With the actors streamed live in full performance, the action - and learning - is all happening in the moment, leaving a lasting impression of authenticity delivered by seasoned actors. Our rich education content is presented in our usual celebrated, interactive format with analysis and discussion streaming live pre and post scenes. Students are even invited to perform alongside us in a selection of scenes!

Delivered via Zoom, students can engage directly through their own devices at home or at school, removing barriers of time and distance. Every student has a front row seat.

This is Shakespeare for tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow…

Our Focus:
CONNECT with the characters through robust performances delivered by seasoned actors or the students themselves.
COMPREHEND the context of the play, the themes and meaning of the text using active rehearsal room techniques.
APPRECIATE the brilliance of the writing through analysis on the form, features and structure.
EXPRESS as creators when directing and performing scenes and through personal, analytical and creative writing.
INSPIRE the next generation with the timeless wisdom of classic literature and the ultimate life education it contains.
